Margin recovery & systemic risk diagnosis for SaaS

Recover margin.
Get platform risk under control.

For SaaS companies that have reached product-market fit. We find what is driving delivery costs, recurring failures, and critical dependencies, then carry out the engineering.

We connect the two

01 / Where we help

The symptoms are visible.
The causes take investigation.

You don’t need to arrive with a technical diagnosis. Start with the cost of serving customers, the work holding back delivery, or a platform risk you need to understand.

01

Margin Recovery

More revenue. Too little margin.

Customer revenue is growing, but hosting, onboarding, and support leave too little margin. We trace the cost of serving customers and implement changes to the applications, infrastructure, or manual work behind it.

02

Platform Remediation

More engineering effort. Less forward progress.

Recurring failures and fragile dependencies keep interrupting the roadmap. We investigate the causes and carry out structural work alongside the people responsible for delivery.

03

Systemic Risk Diagnosis

Critical software. Incomplete answers.

A key person is leaving, a sale is approaching, or an important system is poorly understood. We examine how architecture, dependencies, security exposure, and concentrated knowledge create connected risks, then identify what to address.

Less duplicated infrastructure.
Less manual onboarding.

Aligned simplified AWS infrastructure, removed redundancy, and automated single- and multi-tenant customer onboarding alongside Responsive’s engineers.

Two ways to start

Commission the work
your business needs.

Start with a named cost or risk. If the work is already understood, we can go straight to implementation.

Margin Recovery

Trace the cost of serving customers, choose the changes worth making, and carry out the engineering. The work can address architecture, provisioning, or the manual effort around the platform.

  • A baseline of costs and work per customer, tenant, or transaction.
  • Prioritized changes and a plan for implementing them.
  • Implementation, testing, and a comparison of costs and effort before and after.
Discuss Margin Recovery

Systemic Risk Diagnosis

Understand the connected technical weaknesses behind recurring failures, difficult changes, or critical dependencies. Establish what needs attention and the practical options for addressing it.

  • Findings, supporting evidence, and remaining unknowns.
  • The business consequences and priorities for remediation.
  • Implementation options, dependencies, and a plan for who will maintain the result.
Discuss Systemic Risk Diagnosis

Scope, fees, and how results will be assessed are agreed before work begins. A diagnosis can be commissioned on its own, and its findings can go to another implementer.

03 / How the work moves forward

A clear diagnosis.
And the capacity to act on it.

We connect technical findings with decisions about cost, capacity, and risk, then implement the agreed work.

01

Find what drives the problem.

Examine the applications, infrastructure, costs, and working practices behind the business symptom. Show what the evidence supports and what still needs investigation.

02

Choose changes worth making.

Compare the cost and effort of feasible changes with their likely impact. Separate cash savings, recovered capacity, and reduced risk so you can decide what to fund.

03

Implement and verify.

Plan the work around live operations, with testing and recovery arrangements. Check the results against the starting point and make remaining work visible.

AI economics at scale

AI features.
Understand the cost and risk.

AI features can change the cost of serving customers and how failures spread through a platform. Systemics investigates and implements changes where those costs or risks constrain the business.

Understand cost per use.

Trace model usage, retries, and supporting services to customer workloads. Identify the paths that make delivery expensive or unpredictable.

Count the work left for people.

Include review, corrections, and exceptions in the cost of delivery. Separate cash savings from time made available for other work.

Address connected failures.

Examine permissions, data flows, and external dependencies together. Implement the controls and recovery paths the diagnosis supports.

Before we talk

A few fair
questions.

Who is Systemics for?

SaaS companies that have reached product-market fit, whether PE-backed or privately held. Costs, recurring failures, difficult changes, or critical dependencies are constraining the business. We work with founders, finance and technology leaders, and PE operating teams.

How do you work with our engineering team?

We work alongside your technical leader, engineers, and maintainers. We agree the work we will take on, use their knowledge of the platform, and keep progress and decisions visible. Your team retains access to the code, accounts, and operating knowledge.

Is a diagnosis required before remediation?

No. You can commission implementation directly when the work is understood. Systemic Risk Diagnosis is an independent option when the causes or priorities need investigation. You can take its findings to another implementer.

What if AI is part of the platform problem?

Systemics covers the costs and systemic risks of AI features within a SaaS platform, including implementation of the changes needed. Aligned AI Works focuses on building AI workflows and integrations. An engagement can draw on both practices with one accountable lead and one scope.

How do you assess the financial impact?

Before implementation, we agree the starting point and what to measure: hosting expense, onboarding effort, support work, or another relevant cost. We report actual savings separately from estimates and time made available for other work, and explain the assumptions behind the comparison.

Who looks after the systems afterward?

Before changes go into use, we agree who will maintain them: your team, an existing provider, or Aligned under a separate maintenance agreement. We keep the code, configuration, and operating knowledge accessible to you and plan any handover around the people taking responsibility.
